Physical Attributes:
- Shape: Small to medium sized, conical
- Skin: Fuchsia flush over yellow-golden background, waxy skin
- Flesh: Salmon-coloured, slow to oxidize
Flavour:
Fresh citrus notes with delicate raspberry flavour proving to be one of the best flavoured red-fleshed apples. Balanced sweetness and acidity with a touch of astringency.
Neat History:
An apple forgotten in pioneer history – a rogue tree was happened upon in an abandoned orchard in Airlie, Oregon in the 1960’s horseback riding where the sweet red juice stained Audrey Newell’s lips. The novelty was kept until the 1980’s when the apple was finally brought to the mainstream market.
