The Golden Delicious apple was discovered in the late 1800s in West Virginia, just after the introduction the Red Delicious out of Iowa, and has been a supermarket staple since the 1950s. This is a timeless and delicious apple. The varietal produces a large and conical apple, and when allowed to ripen to its mature golden-green colour, its sweetness has been described as like eating raw sugarcane. It is also refreshingly juicy and crisp. However, it’s flavour can lack in complexity. Easy to grow. Crops heavy. This is also one of the most dependable pollinators.
