First developed in 1953 at Cornell University, the Jonagold apple came to be ranked the top 15 selling apples in the US. This varietal produces a large fruit, with a refreshingly light and crispy flesh, and a thin skin. It is golden-yellow with flushes of crimson, and is sweet with a balancing sharp acidity. Crops well. Highly vigorous plant. Poor susceptibility to disease.
