The Nicola apple produces a large, bicolour fruit that is fire-engine red over a yellow/green background. It is sweet, with low acidity, and has a crisp and juicy, yet firm flesh. This varietal produces a precocious plant that grow indicatively long and flexible stems. Will grow some blind wood. Blooms late, making it advantageous to frost prone areas. Prone to stem-bowl russeting, especially in wetter areas. Low to moderate vigour. Moderate crop.
