Winekist
Tart, Flavourful
The Winekist apple came out of Maine in the mid-20th century. This varietal is small to medium-sized with a beet-red flesh, and is tart like cranberries. It’s skin is wine-red with stripes of darker red, and very small lenticels. It has a good flavour, and juicy, coarse flesh. This apple is great as an eating apple as well as good in cider-blends. It’s also perfect for making a beet-red apple sauce. Good disease resistance.
